What the tool itself collects
The Dumb Decision-Maker tool itself collects nothing about you. Your options and your reflection stay in your browser's memory while the page is open, and are not sent to us, to analytics, to logs, or to any web address. There is no account, no comment system, and no sign-in on this site. The in-tool usefulness check (Helped / No difference / More confused) also stays in your browser only; it is not sent to us. Google AdSense and cookies
This site uses Google AdSense. The AdSense verification script is present in the head of every page on this site, with publisher ID pub-1494108164726462, so Google can verify ownership of the site. No ads are shown yet, and no ad units are present on the site. Ads will only be added after Google approves the site.
When ads do run, Google and third-party vendors use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. That means an ad you see may be personalised based on your browsing. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time: visit Google Ad Settings at adssettings.google.com, or visit optout.aboutads.info to opt out of personalised advertising from third-party vendors. Opting out does not stop ads from being shown; it means the ads you see will not be personalised in that way.
Loading the AdSense script makes a request to Google, even before any ad is shown. That request is the only contact the tool's pages make with an ad system. The tool itself does not ask you to click ads, and ads, when they appear, are advertising, not recommendations.

Before any ads run, a consent choice will be shown to visitors in the UK and the European Economic Area, using a Google-certified consent platform, so you can choose whether to allow personalised ads and cookies for advertising.
